The holiday was introduced in 1965 on the occasion of the Druzhba pipeline commissioning From then onwards, the O&G industry has played a crucial role in the national economy. As of today, this professional holiday is most widely celebrated in the leading oil-producing regions of Russia, such as Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrug, Yamalo-Nenets autonomous okrug, Tatarstan, Orenburg and Sakhalin regions. Gas and Oilman’s Day celebrations have long been major social events for many communities that live next to oil and gas fields and thus owe their well-being to relevant industrial production.
